EducationBachelor of Arts Government Major at Georgetown University. Minor in Spanish. Graduation Date May 2013.
ExperienceAlthough I have no previous formal tutoring experience, as a member of the Women's Basketball Team and senior captain for the 2012-2013 season I was regularly involved in informal tutoring among my undergraduate teammates.
I am confident that a relative course I have taken, How to Teach a Second Language, has provided me with more than sufficient knowledge of lesson planning as well as the linguistic difficulties that come with learning a second language. As a Spanish Minor, I have shared the same difficulties that many have in learning the second language, overcame those difficulties, and therefore am confident that I can inform another how to overcome these same challenges.
I would like to become a tutor because I aspire to a career in the education industry. I understand that not all children learn at the same pace or level, and I greatly look forward to being a part of a positive change in the education of a child's life.
HobbiesAs an athlete in high school and college, from a young age I have understood the difficulties that come with being a student-athlete. Throughout the years I would remind myself that as a "student-athlete", student comes first, and therefore my studies should always come first. Athletics would take me far in life, however without an education and dedication to my school work, none of it would have been possible. Balancing after-school sports programs with after school academic help is often times very difficult, and the help of independent tutors can assist in this difficulty. As a Government Major from Georgetown University, as well as a Spanish minor, I feel more than prepared to tutor your child in either of these subjects.
