I am committed to the education of my students. As a teacher, I do not move on to the next concept until I can be absolutely certain that my student understands the material that I have already presented. I believe that knowledge must be a constructive process wherein the student builds a foundation with the basics of a particular subject, and then adds material to the top of that solid foundation. In order to verify that my students understand my lessons, I have them teach the material back to me in order to show their firm grasp of a topic. This method prevents me from moving at a pace that is too quick for my students. My favorite subject to teach is Arabic. In the past, I have helped my fellow classmates with their language skills in a personal setting. I have also taught entire introductory Arabic courses. In addition to my language tutoring skills, I am also able to help students excel in all common core subjects at the elementary and middle school level. I have an associate's degree from the Defense Language Institute in Arabic, and am currently earning a bachelor's degree in Arabic and computer science. I was previously a member of the Air Force. My hobbies include extreme sports, reading, and speaking with veterans.
